Imaginary Bitches Episode 12: Ego Overload

On one hand, the latest episode of the Imaginary Bitches webseries provided some deep satisfaction on a continuity level, because finally, there is payoff for continuity. On the other hand, there appears to be a plot twist that is so twisty it didn't just ... twist like a Twizzler, it careened offside and slammed you in the face.

The last episode before the conclusion of the series' first season features Eden making a new imaginary friend. On the surface, Jen seems perfect. She appeals to Eden's ego and encourages Eden to take steps to find a man (apparently the only thing that could make Eden complete). Of course, nothing is what it seems, and it's soon revealed that Jen has ulterior motives: banging Eden herself.

Overall, this episode (and the episode before it), fell a little flat. While the bitches are imaginary, it gets a little clumsy for Eden to have to repeat everything they say. The punch of the joke is sometimes lost, and the premise of the series itself seems to have gone from 'lonely girl struggles with her identity as a single girl when all her friends assimiliate into relationship and copes by inventing imaginary bitches' to 'Eden is not complete without a man' which (feminism aside) isn't as funny. With the bitches being so posessive of Eden, I expected more of a catfight for Eden's attentions. Jen seemed to swoop in pretty easily. And the 'Eden may like the ladies' angle did seem to come out of nowhere.

Well, okay, that's not true. Honestly, a few episodes back I did have the amusing thought that a future funny episode could be on the of the bitches getting an insane crush on a girl and having poor Eden have to explain to the woman that she herself was not a lesbian, but her imaginary friend wanted to bang her silly.

But I was joking. Then again, where can you really go after queefing?

Upside: the continuity fairy hath blessed us with her presence, and we finally see a conversation taking place among Eden's friends in which they seem to be functioning normal intelligent women who finally bring up the fact that A) Eden is not getting better, but seems to be GAINING imaginary friends, which can't be a good thing, B) they are all dickwhipped, and C) Brooke really needs to stop seeing that creepy shrink.

The finale airs in three days, and our questions might possibly be answered. Sorta. Maybe?

Meanwhile, I'll be on my couch watching Dancing with the Stars, making fun of Cameron Mathison with the bitches.

Imaginary Bitches Episode 10: Better Cleansing Through Vodka

Elizabeth Hendrickson, the little soap star that could, finally got a chance to shine on the latest episode of the webseries 'Imaginary Bitches'. Until now, Liz has been doing a lot of press for the webseries with a minimal amount of 'screen time'. Of course it does make sense. This is Eden Reigel's show, a pet project of her and her husband, and Liz herself is merely a recurring character. And getting Liz to do press makes complete sense, because Eden and Liz do have the great support of the community of fans of their crazy popular Bianca/Maggie pairing from All My Children.

Elizabeth herself is now on contract with 'The Young & The Restless', playing such a crazy stalker type of character it makes me wince. She does play it with glee, but honestly, it's a lot more fun to see the kind of crazy that doesn't make me want to duck and cover. Witness her turn on the latest episode of Imaginary Bitches:

In this episode, 'Couple-Poster-Girl' Lizzie finds herself on the outs with her boyfriend Jake, when she experiences a slight hiccup in her domestic bliss. The subject of marriage has been broached, and Jake has apparently freaked out just a little bit. Lizzie freaks out right back, and the result is a hyper-anxiety induced drunk girl crashing at Eden's pad, drinking shot after shot of vodka and, taking a page from her good friend Eden and her imaginary bitches, invents herself an imaginary wedding.

Nice to know those bitches can do some good, even if they have to crash an imaginary wedding to do it.

Quote of the Ep:
Eden: "Jake's dad just had to rush Jake's grandmother to the hospital! Apparently she's very allergic to roses."
Lizzie: "What do you mean?! She was fine at the ceremony! I mean, she looked gross but I thought that was just because she was old!"

Imaginary Bitches Episode 9: Evil Does Anal

Episode 9 of the Imaginary Bitches web series has gone live, and of course, those bitches went and seduced another man. This time, they got themselves a priest! That brings the grand total of seemingly sane men who have been seduced into insanity by the blatant sexual come-ons of those Imaginary Bitches up to three. In 9 webisodes.

Touche, bitches. Of course, this does bring up the 'Jerk Theory' in reverse. You know the theory, right? The idea that girls only like guys when they're assholes, and nice guys finish last, and all that? Yes, well the idea seems to be so fascinating that they've actually built a whole movie around the idea. Yes, I know. Let's all go. Forget Dark Knight!

Anywayz...

Seems now that Eden has found her inner jerkettes, the boys are coming running. The problem is, it's all the wrong boys. Masterbating finance gurus, crazy shrinks, and ex-porn star priests.

Oh, Eden. Between you and me? I would have gone for it. He was hot. Crazy? but hot.

Episode Linked Below:

Quote of the Ep:
Priest: In the movie: Good and Evil! Battling for my soul! I had sex. With both of them! Evil won. Because she would do anal.

Imaginary Bitches have Bite.

Imaginary Bitches, the web series created by Mr. Eden Reigel (aka Bianca from All My Children) and starring Eden, didn't impress me much in the first few airings. There were some funny moments, but over all I thought the real life friends were annoying as hell (even my beloved Liz Hendrickson), and the acting subpar.

Giving it a second chance, I watched all eight of the episodes on youtube, and I've decided I've judged way too quickly. As the webisodes have gone on, it's actually gotten funnier, and really come into it's own as a genuinely hilarous comedy of bitchy proportions.

The premise is simple: a single girl finds herself increasingly left out by her boyfriend obsessed clique of friends, and to cope, she invents imaginary friends to talk to. The problem is, the friends are actually insane bitches, and Eden finds herself increasingly unable to control what they say, or what they do.

The neat thing about this, isn't just the fact that no one considered that Eden's just crazy, but that the bitches and what they think of the people Eden encounters become mildly fascinating for the people around her. While everyone insists the bitches aren't real, their cutting observations are met with insane paranoia, and in some cases, a general state of horniness.

By far the best episode was the one that aired just before the series went on haitus (or the Bitches went on strike). In it, Eden reunites with the karmic-obsessed real life bitch who stole her last boyfriend, and the Imaginary Bitch exact some karmic justice of their own. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I do dig that the Bitches really do have Eden's back, despite all their bitchiness. It also brings up the question, are the bitches actually real? How can the Real Life Bitch see them? Man. That' s way too much thought for a five minute webisode.

As previous reported, the bitches have become enamoured of their own sucess (with blurbs in TVGuide, and USWeekly) and have gone on strike until they get more money. The press conference for your convenience:
